Lot Essay

We are grateful to Dr. Sam Segal for the attribution, made on the basis of transparencies. He notes that the initials are identical with lettering found on other paintings, which are signed in full by the artist, giving as an example a painting on canvas (136 x 106cm.), dated 1668, formerly with Hoogsteder.
