ECUADOR
The following section comprises the magnificent collection formed by the late Eugenio Gebauer. Practically all the items offered are Official wrappers (mostly of a legal nature) emanating from an important archival find. The large majority of the wrappers consist of the front and part back (often bearing a date endorsement); they have been termed "covers" in descriptions. It is our considered opinion that Mr. Gebauer very carefully selected the items for his collection, as the quality is, generally speaking, significantly finer than other items from the archive that have appeared in auction. It should be noted that some items have been sympathetically and skilfully restored, having had light staining reduced, filing creases ironed-out (only mentioned in descriptions when affecting adhesives) or slightly refolded to improve their visual appeal. In a few instances the very long wrappers are slightly reduced.
