A pair of parcel-gilt and Niello Plates
late 17th century
Each circular plate engraved in the centre with three stylised gilt tulips emerging from a single stalk, the borders gilt with scrolling foliage and an heraldic device, apparantly defaced, against a Niello ground of miniature floral scrolls, with ropework border
each approx. 8 3/8 in. (21.3 cm.) diam.
