Lot Essay

This island stands off the north west shore of the Lido, and was granted in 1717 to Manug di Pietro, an Armenian monk known as Mechitar (the consoler). The monastery he established still stands, and houses a fine ceiling by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo representing Justice and Peace.
