The original is in the Gemäldegalerie, Aschaffenburg (W. Sumowski, Gemälde der Rembrandt-Schüler, II, 1983, p. 1107, no. 765, illustrated in color p. 1225); that painting omits the youth and the pier on the left, and has numerous other minor differences.
