Two versions of this composition are recorded by Ferrari and Scavizzi. The primary work is in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence, Inv. no. 2218; the second is in the Worcester Museum of Art, Mass., Inv. no. 61-32 (see O. Ferrari & G. Scavizzi, Luca Giordano, 1992, I, A229-30; II, p. 580, nos. 303-4). The present work does not include Acis who is seated on a rocky shore in both the autograph original versions.
