HARRISON, JIM. Typescript signed of "Revenge," a diatribe against ill-intended book reviewers, [Lake Leelanau, Michigan, July 1981]. 2¼ pages, 4to, double-spaced, signed and titled by Harrison at head of first page, with a few typing corrections. With a typed letter signed (boldly "Jim") to Esquire magazine, Lake Leelanau, 28 July 1981, 1 page, 4to, submitting "... my dark vengence... GROWL... SNIT..." (this typescript which Esquire did not run and which is apparently unpublished).
In "Revenge" Harrison writes: "This is a rare chance to behave like an attack dog wired on crystal meth; however, neither anger or revenge represent luminous behavior, and I'd like to appear to be a bigger person than my legion of detractors: the spit dribblers, the brie brains, the anus nuzzlers, toe queens, tweed fops, snack food artists, who disapprove of either my work or my collection of Hawaiian shirts. To publish a novel is to stick your head through a hole in the canvas and let everyone throw the object of their choice at you..." (2)
