Lot Essay

The distinctly carved frame of entrelac and acanthus of these chairs relates to a giltwood side chair supplied by Giovanni Toussaint to the Palazzo Pitti in 1783, illustrated in S. Chiarugi, Botteghe di Mobilieri in Toscana, Florence, 1994, vol. I, p. 76, fig. 43.
