TWO SOFT-METAL BOXES, MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), the first formed as two conjoined fans, one with Shoki peering at oni beneath a straw hat, and the sides with a kirin and flaming pearl above cresting waves, the other side of the box depicting a barrel maker with Fuji beyond, the sides with scattered flowering plants--4 1/8 in. long; the second box of rectangular shape with rounded corners and four scrolled feet, the cover with two samurai beneath a pine tree and Mt. Fuji beyond, the sides with floral sprays--5¼ in. long (2)
