The bowls with flared sides rising from above the neatly cut ring foot to a shallow, upright rim, each inscribed on the base of the foot rim with the character jia, the covers of spreading dome form with shallow, ring knops, the translucent stone well polished and of even tone

Lot Essay

The character jia is the first of the Ten Heavenly Stems, and also means 'first' or 'first rate'
