A LARGE YELLOW-GROUND SILK BROCADE PANEL
EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Composed of three matching rectangular panels longitudinally joined, the central panel with a large, bold rock formation issuing from a ruyi-form base superimposed on turbulent waves, flanked by two narrower panels similarly woven with stylized terrestrial diagrams from which issue foamy waves, all below ruyi-form clouds and picked out in shades of blue, ochre, red, green and cream outlined in gold and reserved on a satiny golden-yellow ground
