The large, rectangular inro decorated with three red-haired foreigners dressed in voluminous pantaloons conversing on a shoreline, their ship at anchor in the sea, the other side of the inro decorated with the large figure of a samurai, inlaid in gilt metal, before a villa nestled in pines and clouds, rendered in takamaki-e in gold with details in kirigane, silver and red lacquer, the interior cases nashiji; fitted with an ivory netsuke modelled as a Dutch couple and a bead ojime--4in. (10.2cm.) high
