Lot Essay

These chairs appear to be from a set comprising at least five hall chairs which are illustrated in the Entrance Hall at Tyttenhanger, Hertfordshire. Sir Harry Blount is also thought to have commissioned the 'Chinese' style furniture in the current fashion for the Tapestry Bedroom (H.A. Tipping, op. cit, fig. 113).
