A SET OF SIX RUSSIAN EXPORT BOUILLON CUPS AND SAUCERS
CIRCA 1900, BY KORNILOV BROTHERS FOR TIFFANY & CO., MARKED IN UNDERGLAZE AND OVERGLAZE RED

Each cup and saucer with two gilt handles, the saucers decorated with polychrome strapwork in the Slavic revival style, the cups each decorated with the Russian inscription, "The land of Russia is very great, yet the sun shines everywhere" and each with the coat of arms of one of the following Russian cities: Kiev, Pskov, Kazan, Nijni-Novgorod, Yaroslavl, and Vladimir
Each saucer 5¾ in. (14.5 cm.) diam. (6)

Lot Essay

"The Great Russian Land" service is just one of the porcelain models retailed by Tiffany at the end of the 19th and bveginning of the 20th century. Tiffany & Co. had a long-standing relationship with Russian firms such as Kornilov, Ovchinnikov, and others, retailing Russian pieces until the Revolution.
