Lot Essay

The Deadly Sins Dominated by Death was created as the frontispiece for the album Les Peches capitaux. The entire portfolio of nine etchings was printed on a variety of papers at different times. Two hundred impressions of The Deadly Sins Dominated by Death were printed on laid paper for the album Art Contemporain, published in Antwerp in 1923. Ten copies were printed on vellum for the periodical Le Thyrse, published in 1924.
