Jean-Baptiste Gourdin, maître in 1748

Eldest son of ébéniste Jean Gourdin, Jean-Baptiste had an atelier close to his father's workshop, and created seat furniture for some of Paris's most renowned patrons. A set of eight virtually identical fauteuils by Gourdin is illustrated in J. Nicolay, L'Art et la Manière des Maîtres Ébénistes Français au XVIIIe Siècle, 1976, p. 155, fig. C.
