Lot Essay

Also listed in the Gorham Foundry records as Stretching Tiger, the present model of 1917 was edited in bronze in two sizes: the present size and 13¼in. long. The present cast was probably made in 1930 as indicated by the presentation tag on the base. This is consistent with the Gorham Company records which list that 118 casts of this larger size were made between 1919-1945.
