Lot Essay

The legend of this Pattern is unique in stating the calculation of pure gold content: "16.7185 (grams) x 9 (i.e. 900/1000 fine) = 15.047 (grams) Au (gold)", actually just slightly over weight. The modern 20-Peso gold piece was first issued the following year, 1917, but not to this design.
