Owner label reads in part: "The duck living near water is symbolic of that much needed substance of the desert Hopi. The Hopi never looked on the wild duck as game birds but on the contary prayed to them." This doll has all the characteristics of Pawik'china, the Duck Kachina (see Wright, 1977, p. 92).
