A PAIR OF RARE ZITAN TIERED FOOD BOXES, TIHE
17TH/18TH CENTURY
Of rectangular form, comprising a cover and three trays, each with rabbeted lips keying into the bottom of the layer above, set on a grooved base frame with short sides and side posts, flanked by cloud-form standing spandrels, joined at the top by a humpback handle, the cover held in place by a metal bar threaded through the cover to the side posts, the base frame, corners and handle joints reinforced by plain baitong mounts, the white metal forming a striking contrast to the dark wood
