A GLAZED CUT-WORK BOWL
QIANLONG SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD

The flared, rounded sides pierced with a band of lotus scroll enclosing six large blossoms and then covered overall with a transparent glaze which fills in the cut-out design; together with a pair of blue-glazed bowls, Jiaqing seal marks in underglaze blue and of the period, each covered on the exterior with an even 'powder blue' glaze, tiny rim nick and firing fault to interior of first bowl

A similar bowl with a Qianlong mark is illustrated by Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, vol. 2, London, 1994, no. 793, and another bowl, also of Qianlong date, with a similarly executed, simpler design, is illustrated in Zongguo taoci daxi (Chinese Ceramic Series), 'Qingdai taoci daquan' (Qing Ceramics), Taipei, 1987-89, p. 307.
