The inro of oval shape decorated in takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, inlaid mother-of-pearl and ivory on a kinji ground with a richly caparisoned elephant carrying a lotus throne, the reverse with three Chinese boys playing, interior cases nashiji, signed Shibayama on the bottom in a rectangular mother-of-pearl inlay, and Shokasai in gold lacquer; fitted with a soft metal ojime with a badger regarding the moon and a lacquered carved-nut netsuke--3 3/8in.
