drypoint, 1922, on wove paper, a rich impression, state III Bf (of III Bf), signed in pencil, numbered 40/40 (the edition was 100 plus 50 on Japan), with margins, a reinforced thin spot at the top right margin corner, a few tiny repaired tears at the right and left margin edge, remains of old glue at the reverse of the top left margin corner, otherwise in good condition
P. 12 3/4 x 9 1/4in. (324 x 235mm.)

Lot Essay

The man drawing at left is the artist Rudolph Grossman who was known for his compulsive drawing. The bespectacled figure to the right of Grossman is the Munich painter Rolf E. von Hoerschelmann.
