Part VIII: [Voyages of Drake, Hawkins, Cavendish and Raleigh]. 332 x 227 mm. (13 1/16 x 9 in.), title map and map VI (Drake at Cape Verde) shaved at fore-edges, hole to b4 catching 5 letters, lacking final blank. Third issue, with signature AA2 correctly printed, plates VI, VII, VIII and IX with no engraved numbers, and plates XIII and XIV printed on the correct leaves, 2 parts plus plate section, separate signatures and pagination (plates numbered), this copy without the small maps on pp. 78 of the first pagination and p. 3 of the second pagination, title with engraved map of the world after Jodocus Hondius's broadside map of c. 1595 (Shirley 219), folding engraved map of Guiana, 18 half-page engraved plates, woodcut initials and head-pieces. Part IX: [Acosta's History of the New World, Voyages of Sebalt de Weert and Olivier van Noort]. 339 x 235 mm. (13 3/8 x 9¼ in.), first three leaves with lower margins renewed, creasing to corners of first few leaves, title-leaf with small repairs at fore-edge, lacking blank leaf Yy6, browning to title and to text throughout, the map less severely browned, some foxing to plates mainly confined to captions. Three parts, plus two series of plates, separate signatures and pagination (plates separately numbered), separate title-pages, general title within engraved allegorical border, engraved coat-of-arms on dedication leaf, 2 titles with engraved vignettes including portrait of Van Noort incorporating a world map (Shirley 229), engraved map of the Straits of Magellan (on a guard), 39 half-page engravings numbered I-XXV and I-XIV, woodcut initials, blank leaf ddd4 present.
