CIRCA 3RD CENTURY B.C.

8 3/8in. (21.3cm.) high

Lot Essay

The unworked back and the broadening at the base of the neck, in combination the mortice in back suggests that this head was originally part of a composition finished in a less expenisve material such as limestone. This would also suggest a western Greek workshop, where expensive imported marble was was always sparingly used.
