Of bud shape, the exterior carved with overlapping petals, the flat cover carved with petals centred around a button finial, all under a grey-green celadon glaze

Lot Essay

Cf. a very similar yueyao jar without cover from the Ingram collection, in the Museum of Eastern Art, Oxford, illustrated by Gompertz, Chinese Celadon Wares, pl. 13b. A similarly-shaped jar and cover made in the Dingyao kilns is illustrated in Porcelains from the Tianjin Municipal Museum, col. pl. 24.
