The central panel overlaid with a bird perched on a flowering peony tree issuing from rockwork between narrower panels similarly decorated, the painted bone on a pale blue ground, the reverse in black lacquer with similar decoration in gilt, the top of the frames embellished with a shaped flange finely carved with a floral meander extending onto the sides, the base of the frames carved with archaistic dragon-scrolls, all supported on the stand intricately carved with scrolling foliage and a low pierced scrolling balustrade
