AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF HONGMU AND CLOISONNE ENAMEL CURIO CABINETS
QING DYNASTY

Each comprising five open display cupboards of various size and shape surrounding a small ivory-fronted drawer and separated by notable 'cut out' dividing panels with fan-shaped and bowl-and-cover-shaped openings, the front and sides of each cupboard with openwork filigree frames within key-pattern borders, above two cloisonne-fronted drawers and two cloisonne-fronted doors divided by a central removable stile, the cloisonne panels decorated with lotus sprays and archaistic scrollwork, above a ruyi-shaped cloisonne enamel apron, the sides of the lower cupboards incised and gilt with bamboo
