A VERY FINELY PAINTED AND RARE FAMILLE ROSE VASE
QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The cylindrical sides moulded with four lotus petal panels in relief, two bearing long inscriptions with red seals referring to the paintings on its sides, one with a gnarled flowering prunus tree beside iron-red tree peonies, the other with multi-coloured chrysanthemums borne on leafy stems, all reserved on a ground filled with stylized bats, lotus and flower sprays in finely dappled enamels and underglaze-blue above the foot surrounded by a key-fret border, the neck flanked by two angular chilong handles in iron-red, rims, borders and handles picked out in gilt (shallow rim chip restored)

The finely enamelled seasonal flower panels with corresponding calligraphic inscriptions are in the tradition of classical scroll paintings.
