A RARE JADEITE PENDANT SAUTOIR
The bi-coloured apple green and white pendant, the green section formed as a fish with white lotus leaves, representing the rebus "jin yu lian he" or "gold and jadeite converged", suggesting a perfect match, suspended from an apple green and white nephrite bead knotted silk cord, jadeite yu pei late 18th, early 19th century; strung in Beijing around 1920
Pendant 46.5 x 30.1 x 13.8 mm.
White beads diameter 9.0 to 13.15 mm.
Green beads diameter 21.2 and 22.1 mm.
Necklace length 108.0 cm.
This pendant with its auspicious message was probably a used as a betrothal present. It is exquisitely worked, cleverly utilising the colour and natural inclusions of the stone.
