The KAI-YIN LO NATURE COLLECTION for
WORLD WIDE FUND FOR NATURE HONG KONG
Kai-Yin Lo
Hong Kong's internationally renowned jeweler, Kai Yin Lo studied History and her entry into the world of jewellery was a fortuitous stop at Cartier, New York, where she showed her designs, on her way to work at Time Inc. However, she did not devote herself fully to designing jewellery until 1979.
Subsequent collections incorporating and adroit mix of antique and modern semi-precious stones created a look very much her own that embodied a synthesis of the East and West.
In the early 80's, she devoted her energy to creating a line of jewellery - Lumia, semi-precious stones set in 18K vermieil - which has since become her hallmark and this range was sold in the USA at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Her present market includes Japan, South East Asia and Hong Kong. She has recently increased her repertoire to include 18K gold and jade jewellery, while maintaining her emphasis on wearability and graphic simplicity.
Acknowledged internationally as a pioneer and leader of semi-precious jewellery, Kai-Yin Lo, in the words of Suzy Menkes, Fashion Editor of the international Herald Tribune, "has bridged the divide between precious and fashion jewellery".
The recipient of many internaitonal awards, she is particularly proud of the Kai-Yin Lo Coloured Stone Jewellery Design Competition which she inaugurated in 1992.
