Lot Essay

Another bottle, perhaps from the same hand, but certianly from the same workshop, was sold in New York, 2 December 1985, lot 146, depicting similarly-dressed European ladies within ogival panels on a yellow cell ground, pink vignettes on the narrower sides and archaic scrolling on a pale blue ground at the neck. Another is illustrated by Hugh M.Moss in the Catalogue for the exhibition, Chinese Snuff Bottles, p.82, no.342, formerly in the Arthur Gadsby Collection. For yet another example see The Dr.Marcos C.O. Tang Collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles, p.106, no.3.28
