Château Cissac--Vintage 1957
Cissac (Haut-Médoc), cru bourgeois exceptionnel. Château-bottled A turning point for Cissac; the first vintage after the disasterous frost in 1956 which distroyed many of the vines, also the year a mechanical "egrappoir-fouloir" was purchased and used. Modern times for Cissac! However 1957 was not the easiest of vintages: a difficult growing season which was saved, as in 1978 by a heatwave at vintage time. Not unlike 1937, flavoury wines with considerable tannins and acidity. It needed the skill and experience of Louis Vialard to succeed
