The Counts of Mareuil are amongst the noblest families from French history, descending from the Lord of Mareuil who was a close companion of the Emperor Charlemagne. They have owned vineyards in the Cognac ,
region since the early sixteenth century.
In the late nineteenth century, Francois de Mareuil, the last Count fathered one child, a daughter, who married Philip Marett, a native of Jersey and a member of the Martell Cognac family.
Today, their descendants continue the family's proud traditions at the Domaine des Forges in Chermignac from where these rare bottles have ,
