A George III small vase-shaped tea urn
with twin, reeded loop handles, a pedestal foot; and a matching rising, domed cover with an acorn finial, deocrated with bead borders,the reed spigot with an ivory tap, engraved on the front with an armorial and inscribed on the back "the gift of the captain and merchants of Eighteen vessels to Captain George Ross for his care in assisting Captain Buddecome at the falcon sloop of Marr separated from them between the West Indies and New York", the cover by James Young, the body by another maker, (make indistinct possibly overstamped) - 36cm high, 50.5oz.
