Lot Essay

Christine Drummond Angus (1877-1921) designer and embroideress, was the second wife of the artist Walter Sickert. She produced designs for various media including stencilling, furniture and embroidery. Her textiles often use figurative designs with children. There is a cot cover in the Victoria and Albert Museum by her worked in 1908. She also designed a dalmatic for a children's service at Westminster Abbey, which was shown at the 1916 Exhibition.
