The shaped and arched back flanked by faceted outscrolled arms, on faceted arched splayed legs joined by shaped stretchers, the underside inscribed in white paint '33/3560', extensive restorations and replacements, the stretchers and front-right leg replaced, possibly Flemish

This chair form, with its volute-scrolled arms, relates to those of a suite of japanned chairs from the Duke of Leeds Collection, illustrated in R. Edwards The Dictionary of English Furniture, 1924, vol. 1, pl. XV.
