A PAIR OF CHERRY AND ELM WINDSOR SIDE CHAIRS
Thames Valley, late 18th Century
Each with shaped and eared toprail, solid vase splat, above a shaped seat, on cabriole legs joined by an H-shaped stretcher, restorations, one stripped, the underside inscribed in white paint '248/6037' and one also inscribed 'P.K. ROT 10', and with printed plastic label 'PATTERN' (2)
Provenance
The Parker Knoll records state that these chairs were acquired from A.S. Maynard, 1 December 1924 for £10.0.0 per pair.
Exhibited
One chair from this pair was on loan to the Southampton Insititute of Higher Education, until December 1997.
