The eared toprail, comb back, outscrolled arms and incurved supports above a solid waisted shaped seat, on ring-turned baluster legs, joined by an H-shaped stretcher, the underside inscribed '260/931' and in chalk '20', restorations, the right arm tip replaced in mahogany, the legs, stretchers and arm-supports replaced, previously painted (2)
Provenance
The Parker Knoll records state that the first chair was acquired from Springet on 15 April 1918 for £4.10.0.
Lot Essay
The second chair has traces of original paint and this fact coupled with the three-part arm construction could indicate a West Country origin.
