Lot Essay

The Parker Knoll records state that in 1911, the first chair was valued at £2.10.0 while in stock. The second chair was acquired 17 December 1920 for £7.9.0.
A set of dining-chairs relating to the first chair was sold anonymously, Phillips London, 14 July 1992, lot 140.
The same splat pattern to the second chair features on a Chinese padoukwood chair illustrated in J. Kirk, American Furniture and the British Tradition, New York, 1982, no. 984.
