A GEORGE II MAHOGANY AND PARCEL-GILT SECRETAIRE
The scrolled broken pediment ending in twisting paterae, above a cavetto-moulded cornice and Vitruvian-scrolled frieze, above a fall-flap enclosing a fitted interior with sixteen small drawers, a central cupboard with two secret drawers and a ratcheted green baize-lined writing-surface, the lower section with two short and two long graduated blue paper-lined drawers, on ogee bracket feet, one interior drawer with paper label inscribed 'Letters not answered', the top three interior drawers later-lined, probably originally with a long drawer in the frieze and therefore slightly reduced in height, altered in the Regency period and again in the 19th Century at which time the flap was reveneered and the cornice replaced
