Lot Essay

The bow-fronted chest, veneered in exotic gold-toned South American fustic is embellished with ringed pattera handles and Egyptian reeded mouldings, while its reed-ringed feet relate to 'stumb' patterns in Thomas Sheraton's Cabinet Dictionary, 1803 (pl.22).
