The deified animal with stippled coat, wearing a uraeus, crown of uraei, sun disc and cow's horns, its paws raised in adoration, standing on a papyrus umbel, a chased hieroglyphic inscription at the top of the column underneath its tail reading:"May Wadjet give life to Tadiamen", tip of left ear and paw missing, mounted

Lot Essay

The ichneumon was sacred to the goddess Wadjet and was invaluable in killing snakes.
