A PAIR OF RED-LACQUERED JADE TABLE SCREENS
18th/19th century
Each pale, grayish-green plaque of rectanglar form decorated on both sides with an overall pattern of 'one shou characters', one side covered with a thin layer of coral-red lacquer with the slightly raised characters highlighted in gilt, the other incised and exposing the semi-tranlucent, icy stone, both set in dark-brown lacquered stands decorated with bands of bats alternating with peach clusters in pale brown lacquer with painted gilt details
