Circa 1780, the dial signed Barbier le Jeune Paris
The circular white enamel dial with Arabic and Roman chapters within a laurel wreath surround, surmounted by a portrait medallion of Henry IV above a military trophy flanked by putti emblematic of Hercules and Justice, the base with a putto frieze, on a later grey-veined white marble plinth, formerly with musical movement
25in. (65cm.) high, 16in. (42.5cm.) wide, 16in. (15cm.) deep

Lot Essay

Charles-Franois Barbier le jeune, matre in 1770. An almost identical clock signed Buzot is illustrated in Tardy, La Pendule Franaise, 1975, vol. II, p. 263, fig. 1.
