Lot Essay

A pen and ink drawing in the Minton Ornamental Shape Book identifies the model as shape 267, a Svres three-light wall bracket. Although the designs in this ledger are not dated, shape numbers were issued chronologically. 1838-1840 can thus be extrapolated as a production date, an unusually early date for the production of Svres copies by the Minton factory.
