Lot Essay

This work is from a series of circa 13 original works on paper revolving around the wall painting "Treppenhaus" in the Galerie Konrad Fischer, Dsseldorf in 1970. For the exhibition Palermo painted the true-to-life form of the stairwell of his appartment building in an ocre-olive tone onto the left-hand wall of the gallery, thus translating a three-dimensional, labrynth-like form into a two-dimensional surface.
