Lot Essay

Painted in Trattalmen, near Kitzbhel, Austria, this work forms part of a series of paintings of this subject. A larger version, Almen im Schnee 1926 is in the collection of the Heimatmuseum, Kitzbhel. Walde often painted these winter landscapes en-plein-air during his numerous skiing excursions to the Tyrolean Alps.
