The foliate engraved cannelee case mounted with painted porcelain side panels depicting Roman ruins, with jewelled borders, with conforming decoration to the dial with Roman chapters within gilt cartouches, the solid rear door with shuttered winding holes, silvered platform to ratchet tooth lever escapement with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat on gong to backplate stamped 4161
