A Samson Japanese Imari four-piece garniture
19th Century, Samson mark in iron-red
Comprising two baluster jars and covers and two trumpet vases decorated in iron-red and gilt on underglaze blue with four shaped vertical panels depicting alternately a pavilion within a fenced garden and two prunus trees issuing from rockwork on a riverbank, below a row of long petals superimposed by geometrical panels enclosing a river landscape, the domed covers surmounted by a karashishi (lion) finial on rockwork
The jars and covers 89cm. high, the trumpet vases 62cm. high (4)
